**Job Description**:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Manager, Health, Safety and Prevention and supporting the Executive Medical Director, (Medical Staff Governance) and the Director (Partnerships and Communications, Medical Staff Governance), the Program Lead, Medical Staff Occupational Health and Safety is accountable for leading a variety of projects and facilitates and coordinates occupational safety, hygiene, and wellness initiatives aimed at the prevention of illness and injury within the Island Health physician population. The role develops, recommends, facilitates, implements, evaluates and improves physician systems, programs, and services that could affect the health, safety and wellness needs of Island Health physicians.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field plus five (5) years' experience in a professional role in occupational health & safety, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Demonstrated experience with WorkSafeBC issues and systems.

**Skills And Abilities**:

- Working knowledge of project management principles, methods and tools and ability to plan, manage, and complete projects.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to be collaborative, receptive, and flexible.
- Proven facilitation skills.
- Ability to develop education programs and teach.
- Ability to embrace innovation and change.
- High level of written, oral, and aural communication skills.
- Proven ability as a practiced public speaker.
- Ability to seek opportunities to partner on projects.
- Ability to promote positive relationships.
- Demonstrated familiarity with testing equipment (air quality, noise, light etc.)
- Ability to use standard desktop computer systems, Internet, etc.
- Ability to travel and work in a variety of locations.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
