Zurich Canada is currently looking for an Underwriting Associate to support the Underwriters in our Vancouver or Calgary office. Reporting to the Underwriting Account Service Supervisor, you will support Underwriters, by working on assigned book of business using multiple tools and resources.

What you will do
Review, evaluate and summarize risk exposures, controls, loss history, and financial condition to aid underwriting decisions around submission acceptance or declination.
Provides account servicing support in collaboration with Underwriter and Manager, with responsibility for end-to-end servicing processes for new business, renewals, and endorsements for basic to moderately complex business and products.
Supports Underwriter with broker/agent/distributor/customer interactions by providing basic customer service skills. Responds to written, verbal telephone inquiries appropriately and on time under close supervision by Underwriter and/or Manager.
Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications - What you bring to the table
**Required**:
Bachelors degree and no prior experience in the Administrative, Customer Service, Financial Services, Risk Management or Insurance area
OR
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associate Degree and no prior experience in the Administrative, Customer Service, Financial Services, Risk Management or Insurance area
OR
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2 or more years of experience in the Administrative, Customer Service, Financial Services, Risk Management or Insurance area
AND
Knowledge of data collection and analysis
Microsoft Office experience
**Preferred**:
Insurance industry knowledge
Knowledge of processing, rating and policy management systems used in the insurance industry
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Customer service experience
Detail oriented
Multi-tasking skills
Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. The salary range provided is a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled. As required by local law, Zurich provides in good faith a reasonable range of compensation for roles. Compensation may exceed the range listed based on the evaluation of skillset and experience. The starting salary range for this position is $60,000-65,000.
