Commercial Collections and Recovery Specialist

**Reports To**:
Director of Operations

**Position Summary**

Responsible for effectively controlling delinquency and minimizing potential losses for specialized programs and key relationships within the auto and equipment finance group. Accountable for exercising sound judgment in balancing risk with the probability of recovery, collecting past-due arrears payments and assisting with restructuring amendments, and being responsible for identifying and reporting possible fraudulent accounts.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Administer bank drafts and wire payments, retail auto and equipment loan insurance claims, payment suspensions or deferrals.
- Collect and review delinquency of all retail auto & equipment leasing, 3rd party collections and suspicious activity.
- Receive and review bankruptcy and related documents from debtor assistance programs. Prepare and file appropriate forms as required.
- Initiate collection action on retail auto & equipment delinquency over 35 days past due through established collection policies, procedures, and time constraints.
- Investigate early defaults and suspicious activity identifying fraudulent transactions such as closed accounts & first payment defaults. Work closely with key stakeholders to investigate, follow up, and ultimately recover potential fraud losses.
- Maintain regular contact where appropriate with various outside agencies (i.e. collection agencies, law firms, bankruptcy trustees, bailiffs, marketers etc.)
- Must be current on industry trends and current market fraud trends to mitigate risk when collecting on delinquent and fraud accounts.

**Minimum Experience**:

- Minimum four (4) to six (6) years of collections or leasing experience.
- Bilingualism (French, English) is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills
- Must be self-directed, decisive, and goal oriented.
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to deliver exceptional customer service.
- Strong attention to detail
- Solid team player

**Salary**: $33,462.81-$70,218.77 per year
