What this role will be responsible for:
- Manage the day-to-day of the General Accounting department; manage daily issues as they come up. Review and approve journal entries, balance sheet accounts reconciliations, intercompany balancing, prepare profit elimination calculations and financial statement and other as needed.
- Manage the month end process; including the timing of the close in Syspro, the accuracy of monthly financial reporting, the quality of balance sheet accounts and ensure timely preparation of the month end binder.
- Hire, train, develop and supervise a team.
- Participate in special accounting projects, targeted process improvements within the accounting departments, preparing a memo on new accounting policy/procedure, support for new requirements, etc.
- Manage the progression of internal and external audits, ensure compliance with internal controls related to the general accounting function, etc.
- Support Finance Leadership team ad hoc analysis or needs and department in day-to-day problem solving.
Experience & Education Desired:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- CPA designation or in progress
- 4+ years of financial accounting experience required; Experience in external audit an asset
- People leadership experience an asset
- Proficient in MS Office (advance Excel) and computer systems management (ERP)
- Bilingual
