The open-pit gold mine is a joint venture between IAMGOLD and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. and is operated by IAMGOLD. We are located near Gogama, Ontario, with access to stable infrastructure and strong connections with our local communities.

**ENVIRONMENTAL COORDINATOR**

The Environmental Coordinator works collaboratively to safely and effectively maintain the environmental management system. The Environmental Coordinator will work on various projects and business improvement initiatives.
**Key Responsibilities**
Area 1:
Operations
- Provide daily technical support and assistance to the Environmental Superintendent and Senior Coordinator directly overseeing Field Monitoring Programs (Biodiversity and Natural Science, Surface/Groundwater, Hydrology, Air Quality, Wildlife, etc.)
- Monitoring all activities at the mine site that are potentially harmful to the environment and seek ways to improve them
- Coordinate logístical requirements of monitoring activities being performed by various consultants
- Supervise a multidisciplinary team of Environmental Technicians, Monitors and seasonal Environmental Assistants
- Management of monitoring data including data entry, database management and quality assurance.
- Maintain field environmental compliance files and assist in effluent treatment operations on site
- Maintain field environmental compliance files
- Participate in meetings and field inspections with the company, companies consultants, and regulatory agency personnel, as required
- Support site operations by planning and delivering environmental training for staff and contractors
- Other duties as required directed by the Environmental Superintendent and Senior Coordinator from time to time.

Area 2:
Environmental legislation
- Implementation, development and continuous improvement of environment-related processes and procedures
- Assisting in the assessment of new projects for potential environmental/legislative conflicts
- Staying abreast of environmental legislation
- Assisting in the development and implementing procedures and scopes of work to satisfy provincial and federal government regulatory requirements
- Stand-in for the Environmental Superintendent or Senior Coordinator to liaise with Government Agency personnel regarding permits, permit violations, permit amendments, etc.
- Implementation of procedures and policies and proactive measures and studies to prevent permit violations and further project development at the operational level

Area 3:
Site Personnel
- Providing environmental information and training to employees
- Supervise and manage environmental technicians, technologists, consultants and/or contractors as needed

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor of Science or Technical Diploma in Environment Studies.

Work experience - Nature & Length
- 5-7 years of environmental and mining-related experience. (Minimum of 7 if Technical Diploma)

Additional qualifications - Competency requirements
- Excellent knowledge of Government Acts and Regulations.
- Good understanding of the environmental impact of mining and milling processes.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written, with both internal and external contacts and the ability to work with all levels of the organization
- Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented
- Must be able to handle a high level of confidentiality
- Ability to work with others in a team environment
- Ability to organize and prioritize job duties
- Pleasant and courteous in interpersonal interactions
- Good IT knowledge
- Valid Drivers Licence
