**_Job Description_**:
Professional, mature and experienced female Personal Support Worker (PSW) being sought for private senior care in a smoke free, West Hamilton Mountain home for a female with general mobility and mild cognitive issues. English, Italian and Phillipino speaking preferred.

This job is part-time, permanent on weekends Saturday and Sunday morning shifts from 9 am -12 pm. _May _involve an occasional evening or afternoon weekend respite but this would be discussed in greater detail at the interview stage and would be arranged with advanced notice.

Seeking the “right fit” PSW who is committed to a long-term placement for this excellent job opportunity.

Ideally looking for a female PSW who works in one private household during the week and looking for extra weekend hours. Trying to minimize health risks for all parties involved with the continued COVID situation.
- **Duties and Responsibilities**:_

Daily duties include client and personal care as top priority along with secondary priorities of meal preparation, bed making, surface cleaning and sanitizing of bathroom following personal/hygiene care, assisting with basic exercise (range of motion, walking), and medication administration.

Such duties are carried out under the direction of the senior and/or family decision maker and per the client’s daily routine, planned care schedule and in accordance with an agreed upon Client/PSW Service Agreement.
- **Education and Qualifications**:_

Must hold an updated PSW certificate from a recognized and accredited institution.

Ten years’ experience working specifically with the aged is required.

Having worked in a traditional, Italian/Phillipino household in past placements would be an asset.

**Must be self employed/**independent contractor, **responsible for paying own taxes, service invoicing to the client on a bi-weekly basis and have personal, annually renewed, PSW insurance coverage (**approximate** cost: $**300** **through the OPWA **- **tax deductible).**
- **Other Requirements**:_

Updated Police and Vulnerable Sector Clearances and three Personal References.

Updated CPR/First Aid/Health and Safety Training and Immunizations.

Possess a valid Driver’s Licence and access to a reliable vehicle.

Living local in the Hamilton area would be preferred.

Possess a dedicated and conscientious work ethic with a thorough and meticulous standard of caregiving and homecare.

Have a positive and patient attitude and congenial and gentle approach toward the client and her property.

Treat this senior with empathy and respect, thus demonstrating sensitivity and support to her physical, cognitive and social needs to permit her to live with dignity, as independently as possible, in the comfort of her own home.

Be reliable, punctual, dependable, flexible and capable of managing time effectively.

Be an open and honest communicator who is able to effectively problem solve as well as clearly relay any changes or concerns that may arise respecting the client’s health or behaviour or physical condition to their family in a timely manner.

Reserved to a certain extent and understands confidential boundaries in a family’s private household environment.

Take direction and feedback easily and have the ability to build a supportive relationship with the client and their family to enable an effective care team environment for the senior.
- **Salary/Remuneration**:_

Hourly wage range - $29.09 per hour.

COVID-19 precautions are taken within the home with hand washing, hand sanitizing, masks, gloves, booties, necessary PPE and fresh scrubs with each work shift. Proof of vaccination and immunizations required.
