Baker

**Overview**:
Prairie Hill Farms Ltd. is looking for a qualified and enthusiastic individual who will work to develop and maintain recipes related to our commercial kitchen. The Baker will be responsible for producing various baked goods that meet or exceed Prairie Hill Farms’ standards that will be sold in our retail store and to various customers throughout the province.

This position is responsible for independently producing high quality baked goods with a focus on the Haskap berry in the recipe. The baker reports directly to the Plant Manager and works alongside the R&D Technician when necessary. Other tasks will be assigned as required.

**Responsibilities**
- Bake established recipes in the commercial kitchen to quality standards (pies, cakes, rolls, squares, pizza, etc.)
- Ensure accurate preparation (weigh, measure, data record keeping)
- Operate kitchen equipment
- Maintain culinary tools and equipment (cleanliness is the number one priority)
- Order ingredients from approved suppliers (SYSCO, GFS)
- Produce and maintain recipes—creativity is an important asset
- Assist the R&D Technician with scale up processes of prototype products into full production
- Perform chemistry analysis (pH, brix, salt, moisture, fat, protein) on finished product and recipes developed in the kitchen when necessary
- Contribute to product development and the establishment and implementation of processing activities with an emphasis on quality and safety
- Help the media specialist post aesthetically appealing baked goods

**Education**
- Diploma in Culinary Arts, Food Science, or Food Technology

**Assets**
- Post-Secondary Education in a culinary or science program
- Minimum one year in a commercial kitchen environment
