We are seeking a motivated **Maintenance Helper** to join our team and assist in the day-to-day maintenance of machinery and industrial process equipment. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals with basic mechanical knowledge who are eager to gain hands-on experience in industrial maintenance while ensuring a safe and productive work environment.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
To be successful in this role, an individual must demonstrate the ability to perform essential job functions, including but not limited to:
- Assist in maintaining and repairing machinery, including forklifts, loaders, scissor lifts, skid steers, and other equipment.
- Support preventive maintenance tasks such as cleaning, inspecting, testing, and servicing tire crumbing equipment.
- Help review and update maintenance records, ensuring preventative maintenance schedules are followed.
- Operate basic power tools, jacks, hoists, and shop equipment under supervision.
- Assist with machining and fabrication tasks, including cutting, welding, and assembling components as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the shop and surrounding areas.
- Follow all safety protocols and assist in maintaining compliance with workplace safety standards.
- Document service and repair work as instructed.
- Perform general maintenance tasks as directed by the maintenance manager.
- Support other maintenance-related duties as assigned.
**Qualifications & Physical Requirements**:
- Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, and equipment.
- One year of relevant experience or completion of a technical certificate program is preferred but not required.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to work sites if needed.
- Ability to read and interpret safety manuals, equipment operating procedures, and maintenance instructions.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) for measurements and calculations.
- Physically capable of standing, walking, reaching, kneeling, and lifting up to 60 pounds.
- Willingness to obtain certifications for forklifts, scissor lifts, and other equipment as required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with mínimal supervision.
- Ownership of basic hand tools preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn electrical diagnostics are a plus.
**Work Conditions**:
- Ability to work with limited onsite supervision.
- Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Exposure to industrial environments, including airborne particulates and welding fumes.
**Job Type & Schedule**:
We are currently hiring for a **day shift position (6:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday).** Overtime and weekend availability may be required. This role starts with a **six months probationary period**, with the opportunity for a permanent position based on performance. **Benefits will be available upon successful completion of the probationary period.**
Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 44 - 60 per week
