The **Recreation Aide** reports to the Program Manager and is expected to demonstrate commitment to resident well-being by implementing high-quality activities in accordance with the organization's vision and mission.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist the Program Manager in the planning and implementation of recreation activities designed to meet individual needs and interests according to established standards.
- Know how to demonstrate evidence of increasing individual’s well-being and reducing ill-being,
- Create an enjoyable, relaxed, and entertaining environment in the residence and assume responsibility for the morale and well-being of residents,
- Organize supplies and equipment as needed,
- Set up program area as needed,
- Keep attendance and document Resident participation in activities,
- Encourage Residents to attend programs,
- Assist Residents to and from programs,
- Meet an individual’s physical and personal care needs to a high-quality standard and with sensitivity,
- Partner with community team to ensure the community is in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements and promotion of Risk Management programs and/or policies; adherence to safety,
- Any and all other tasks as assigned

**Qualifications**:
The qualifications needed to join our family are as follows:

- A college diploma in leisure services is an asset, or a degree/diploma in gerontology is an asset,
- Ability to read, write, and understand English,
- Previous employment in a health care/hospitality setting is an asset,
- Demonstrated understanding of/empathy for the needs of seniors,
- Current certification in CPR and First Aid,
- Highly organized and able to work independently,
- Excellent communication skills,
- Must enjoy working with the elderly in a setting that promotes optimum independence, dignity, and respect,
- Ability to use your imagination to engage others,
- Must have high energy and a sense of fun,
- Ability to have meaningful engagements with others,
- Clear vulnerable sector screening (w/ in last 6 months), recent TB test results (w/ in last 6 months) or Chest X-ray (w/ in last 1 yr), and two supervisory references required
