Public Relations Representative

We are seeking three (3) motivated and organized summer students to join the Community Engagement and Programming unit at Regina Public Library in the role of Public Relations Representative.
Job Summary
Work will include aiding in the facilitation of summer programs to library customers of all ages and abilities, coordinating and participating in free activities at community events (e.g. National Indigenous Peoples Day, RPL Family Fun Zone at Canada Day, I Love Regina Day, etc.), and developing content to promote these activities through social and traditional media. Other projects include providing research and administrative support in the planning and implementation of library services, programs and community outreach initiatives.
**We are looking for students who are**:

- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program and will be returning back to their studies in the fall semester of 2025.
- Available for full-time work (35 hrs per week) including evenings and weekends.
- Able to demonstrate strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Curious about library services, programs, and the library’s impact on the communities that we serve.
- Excited about working collaboratively and able to communicate effectively with strong interpersonal skills and an understanding of diverse lived experiences and circumstances.

**You’ll spend your summer**:

- Working with a small group of summer students, you’ll attend community events and spread the word about all the awesome events, programs, and resources that the library has to offer.
- With the guidance of experienced librarians, you’ll conduct research and provide administrative support to library initiatives, programs, and outreach opportunities.
- Providing support to the Community Engagement and Programming team, by maintaining databases and files, as well as assisting in the creation of program materials, such as flyers, posters, and social media content.
- Assisting reference and programming assistants with setting up/taking down programming, working with children at outdoor story times in the park, and supporting other children’s programming.

This is a full-time, term position for the duration of the summer months (June, July, and August) up to a maximum of 12 weeks.

- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.*
- Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**; and
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of the employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.

**International students are not eligible participants. As the objective of the CSJ program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student's time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible.
