**Job description**
DESCH is looking for a **Shipping/Material Handler **for our Canadian division Reporting to the Director of Operations, this individual will support the administrative work needed to ensure timely and accurate flow of items at our facility in the shipping/receiving department.

**Primary Responsibilities**
- In accordance with internal policies and procedures, ensure the receiving and shipment of various types of goods and materials are conducted in a timely and effective manner. Prioritize all activities to meet deadlines with regards to processing outgoing shipments and receiving/delivering goods.
- Use of SAP system to generate shipping documents
- Preparing required customs documents for export shipments include Bill of Lading (BOL), Commercial Invoice (Proforma), Canada Customs Invoice, and Certificate of Origin (CUSMA)
- Complete inventory transactions in excel to maintain inventory accuracy. This includes receiving material and issuing material
- Perform cycle counts as requested by the Inventory Control Specialist to maintain accurate inventory
- Call carriers’/freight forwarders to arrange pick-ups for local/global shipments
- Prepare Fed Ex and UPS shipments
- Carry out correspondence with various vendors including shipment set ups, delivery instructions and estimated delivery expectations
- Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices and other documents; record shortages and reject damaged goods
- Ensure work area is clean and safe throughout the shift and at the end of each shift
- Ensure self and others work in a safe possible way and reporting injuries, occurrences or near misses to Supervisors
- Ensure that all the required personal protective equipment is worn at required times and in the required areas
- Undertaking of special duties as required

**Experience and Skills**
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Shipping and receiving experience an asset
- SAP experience preferred
- Knowledge of shipping, customs requirement, and North America Free Trade Agreement
- Knowledgeable to work with FIFO and learn manufacturing tools
- Highly detail oriented with the ability to perform duties accurately and efficiently
- Demonstrate proficient problem solving techniques
- Able to work well independently and on a team basis
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and Outlook)
- Clear written and verbal communication skills to work effectively with DESCH employees, vendors, and customs brokers.
- Strong problem solving skills
