**This posting is for 2 non-permanent hourly summer students.**

Strathcona County is extending 2 summer employment opportunities to post-secondary students enrolled in a GIS program to work with Information Technology Services or Transportation Engineering and Operations.
- **Information Technology Services**- this position is up to 4 months with the possibility of extension (May - August)
- **Transportation Engineering and Operations**- this position is up to 6 months with the possibility of extension (May - October)

**Responsibilities**:

- Create and edit geospatial data/apps in the Strathcona County Enterprise GIS via ArcGIS Products (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Portal for ArcGIS and Enterprise Geodatabases)
- Perform data collection, data entry, and other tasks essential for maintaining accurate and up-to-date asset records (Note: data collection may involve field-based duties)
- Create high-quality maps to meet operational needs and support decision making
- Conduct business and spatial analysis to complete assigned activities

**Qualifications and Skills**
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary Geographic Information Systems (GIS) program
- Experience with Esri ArcGIS Products (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Portal for ArcGIS and enterprise geodatabases) is considered an asset
- Basic cartographic skills and knowledge of GPS data collection
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling deadlines and interruptions while managing conflicting priorities
- Strong attention to detail and ability to complete routine tasks with accuracy and focus
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to maintain a professional and positive image with internal and external customers and residents
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn on the job and take on new challenges

**Conditions of Employment**
- Reliable personal transportation may be required (no public transit routes to the Transportation Engineering and Operations office)
