Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is a 315-bed academic and teaching hospital that provides specialized mental health, addiction and geriatric care. Located on the shores of Georgian Bay, we serve some of the most complex and disadvantaged individuals in Ontario and are the sole provider of high-secure forensic mental health services in the province.

The Director, Hospital Services is currently seeking to fill the position of Manager, Emergency & Security Services. The purpose of this position is to manage corporate emergency, life safety and security services consistent with Waypoint's mission, vision, values and corporate strategic direction as well as legislated and regulatory requirements; coordinates private and public security services, as well as interacting with external emergency services; plays a key role in the ongoing monitoring and assessment of potential threats and risks to the hospital, recommending implementation of countermeasures as appropriate, assumes corporate responsibility for functionally related projects and committees from concept development through to implementation.

Please Note: This position offers a hybrid work environment consisting of in-office and remote work. Office location is 500 Church St in Penetanguishene, ON

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**:

- Directly manage the Emergency and Security Services Program by providing leadership and oversight in relation to the department’s financial and human resources.
- Lead the development, implementation, testing and annual review/revision of the Hospital’s Emergency Management Program.
- Lead the development, implementation, testing and annual review/revision of the Hospital’s business continuity plans.
- Lead the development and implementation of the Hospital’s corporate security program, liaising closely with clinical services to support staff and patient safety needs; provide leadership to the tactical response of the Hospital’s security department and related contract services.
- Provide strategic advice and planning on the formulation and implementation of security and emergency services policies/procedures/training, consistent with best practice; prepare briefing documents and/or status reports for senior decision makers.
- Lead corporate security investigations; develop and deliver briefing reports to senior management.
- Chair corporate committees, ensure distribution and documentation of meeting outcomes; facilitate resolution of issues as identified.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with program/departmental managers and other internal and external stakeholder groups.
- Implement and manage project methodologies and reporting mechanisms; manage projects.
- Ensure the operational training and readiness of the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) and Emergency Control Group Members (ECG).
- Oversee the development and integration of the Hospital’s mass notification system.

**REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Bachelor’s degree in related discipline (e.g. Law and Security, Emergency Management, CEM)
- Completion of International Association of Healthcare for Safety and Security (IAHSS) preferred
- Additional specialized security training/certification in healthcare/mental health care setting preferred
- Minimum of 5 years demonstrated leadership experience in security and emergency services required
- Demonstrated progressive experience in healthcare delivery systems including managing employee and contract personnel
- Advanced knowledge and expertise in Emergency Management principles consistent with hospital, municipal, provincial and federal standards, and of related current and proposed legislation
- Advanced knowledge of the Building Code and Fire Code.
- Advanced knowledge of the Incident Management System (IMS) and incident management protocol, and live event facilitation.
- Advanced knowledge of adult learning principles, development and delivery of related training curriculum.
- Administrative, organizational and managerial knowledge of security and emergency services delivery models, including best practice.
- Financial and budgeting knowledge to prepare, administer and maintain department budget.
- Knowledge of Microsoft software suite or equivalent and Project Management software; understanding of approach to developing vendor contracts.
- Knowledge of management principles and practices to effectively lead staff and respond to customer requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; analytical and problem solving skills and planning and organization skills.
- Preference for proficiency in French/English language skills.
