**Payroll Analyst**

**One (1) Permanent Full-Time Position (35 hpw)**

**Exempt Level 6** **$81,352 - $103,307 per annum**

**Position Summary**:
Under the direction of the Manager, Payroll and Benefits, the Payroll Analyst provides resource support to the Manager to improve administration processes, updates department policies and develops enhanced internal controls and procedures in compliance with the Ministry of Education, Regulatory and Governance Authorities, collective agreements, board policies, policies of insured Benefits providers, regulations of pension providers and Public Sector Accounting Board standards (PSAB) in addition to ensuring reconciliation between payroll and financial postings.

**Major Responsibilities**:

- Maintain payroll reports to support audits and compliance.
- Serve as backup for payroll tasks, including pay runs, finance postings, ROE processing, and third-party remittances.
- To maintain awareness of department and system goals in order to plan, prioritize,
- Monitor and track projects and the work of the team.
- Analyze and reconcile payroll data with SAP financial postings.
- Ensure compliance with employment standards, collective agreements, and Board policies.
- Maintain documentation and support internal controls for payroll and finance.
- Provide recommendations for system and process improvements.
- Monitor, analyze and compile payroll reports and statistical data relating to salaries and deductions for various stakeholders.
- Oversee and coordinate the reconciliation of pension plans for year end as well as pension adjustment calculations.

**Qualifications and**Experience**:

- Advanced College diploma in Business or Accounting
- 3+ years of experience in payroll analysis, preferably in an SAP environment
- Experience in accounting / financial controls an asset.
- Certification through the Canadian Payroll Association an asset

**Skills and Competencies**:

- Strong knowledge of SAP
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong understanding of payroll reconciliation and tax reporting
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel Excellent organizational and time management skills, attentive to details
