**Position Summary**:
Reporting to a Manager of Human Resources Services, the successful incumbent will be a key member of the leadership team within Human Resources Services. This position will develop proactive strategies and build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Analyze, evaluate, and make recommendations related to the efficacy of existing HRIS, recruitment, staffing, document management, and attendance tracking software.
- Manage projects including identification of process and software improvements, research, testing, and leading implementation of projects.
- Lead or participate in development and implementation of corporate programs and plans including job evaluation, pay equity, onboarding, and professional learning and development.
- Develop and lead strategic recruitment and staffing initiatives and processes.
- Collaborate with the team to develop and implement attendance support policies and practices.
- Build, monitor, and report on human resource management metrics related to our human capital and align with the Ministry funding sources.
- Oversee student-teacher practicums, educational assistant apprenticeship programs, and student placement programs.
- Supervise a team of six to ten Human Resources Services staff members including performance management, training and development, and team building.
- Develop and maintain relationships with other department leaders and stakeholders impacted by HRS processes and procedures.
- Foster positive working relationships with labour groups and participate in negotiations, grievance resolution, mediation, and arbitration.
- Coordinate work assignments and promote a team approach to enable the most effective and timely response to business process needs.
- Maintain awareness of current legislation and make recommendations on standards of practice and scope of practice in collaboration with the Human Resources Services management team.
- Other duties as assigned. **Qualifications and Experience**:

- University Degree or Diploma in Human Resources, Business/Public Administration, or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP/CHRL) or
- 5 years leadership experience working in a Human Resource capacity.
- Applied knowledge of relevant employment legislations and regulations, such as the Employment Standards Act, Education Act, Employment Equity Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, PPM 165, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act, Ontario College of Teacher Act, School Board Teacher Hiring Practices, and other applicable legislation. **Assets**:

- Experience in a large, unionized, public sector environment with experience in the education sector, preferred.
- Project management and business analyst experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of recruitment and payroll best practices.
- Strong analytical and technical/computer skills including experience using K212HRP or another Human Resources Information System and an aptitude for understanding integration of systems/middleware.
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining collaborative working relationships.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize and successfully complete projects with conflicting deadlines and urgency.
- Self-motivated and self-directed with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated proficiency drafting and editing written communications and superior documentation skills.
- Ability to exercise considerable independent judgement, tact, and sensitivity with confidentiality and discretion in dealing with internal and external contacts.
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
