**The Role**

You will be responsible to lead and direct all technical manufacturing plant operations. You will exercise a substantial amount of creativity, perception and initiative with a significant latitude for independent judgment and action. You will be managing a large group of salaried employees over multiple shifts. You will have immediate responsibility over people leaders in manufacturing operations, and the execution of plant business processes. You will assure that technical operations supporting the attainment of organizational or divisional production objectives are achieved at the lowest cost consistent with quality requirements. You will be responsible to support the technical requirements of meeting production schedules as well as meeting plant budget. You will develop and drive a safety culture within the plant and upholds GM’s vision, values, and cultural behaviors. You will be responsible to execute workplace safety system element ownership responsibilities campus wide. You will be responsible to act as the single voice of the plant in any Solutioning Left technical and strategical planning activities. You will work with corporate strategic planning teams to define the future of the Oshawa campus. You will be responsible for the successful completion of all technical projects performed by internal or contract resources.

**What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)**
- Manage all technical aspects of the manufacturing facility.
- Provide strategic direction and technical leadership to the plant’s engineering, facilities, maintenance, IT and technical training teams.
- Provide guidance to teams to ensure continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, while maintaining operating budgets.
- Utilize plant KPI’s to monitor plant performance and drive continuous improvement to exceed business plan targets.
- Embrace change and be a champion of innovation.
- Lead standardization, continuous improvement and best practice implementations.
- Demonstrates commitment to continual improvement of production throughput and quality operations.
- Training all technical and semi technical personnel to function at a world class level of technical proficiency anywhere within the campus.
- You will co-lead the apprentice program for Oshawa.
- Significantly reduce direct costs, improve quality. Constantly works to improve the “Workplace of Choice” environment.
- Responsible for forecasting in areas of responsibility.
- Demonstrates knowledge, competence and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Negotiate and comply with the terms of local and national labor agreements.

**Additional Job Description**:
**Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)**
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
- Extensive experience in automotive manufacturing leadership with a focus on technical operations and plant management.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate teams, drive change and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels of organization in plant and beyond.
- High level of strategic, analytic, organization and planning.

**What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)**
- Advanced degree in a technical or business field.
- Good knowledge of Global Manufacturing System (GMS) principles and experience in GMS implementation.
- Experience in multiple business units across the corporate enterprise but not limited to manufacturing alone.
- Government relations experience and exposure.
