**QA Inspector - Metal Fabrication**

**Job Summary**: The QA Inspector role includes performing quality inspections and systems reporting in support of production requirements in a multi-shift operation. **Key Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for all aspects of production inspection of semi-finished and of finished product to confirm compliance with drawing and technical requirements of components.
- Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) on production runs.
- Reading drawings to determine critical tolerance parameters. Complete quality checks on work in process to ensure compliance with technical specification and assembly processes and instructions.
- Verify dimensions of parts using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, protractors, and height gauges.
- Management of Non-Conformance Reporting (NCR’s) in the ERP system.
- Collaborating with the Team Leads and Production Planner, manage the priority of inspections to ensure we meet customer due dates.
- Identify material and process non-conformances and issue NCR’S from the JVC quality management system.
- Participate and contribute to the monthly quality review process meetings.
- Perform ISO LPA (Layered Process Audits) on a quarterly basis.
- Track and maintain the calibration database and coordinate / schedule calibration activities, as necessary.
- Maintain QA area to 5S standards.
- Ensure work is performed in accordance with OHSA practices and internal company policies specific to Personal Protective Equipment.

**Continuous Improvement**:

- Participate in process and product development and improvement programs, teams, and focus groups.
- Assist in the development and improvement of quality inspection processes and techniques.
- Collaborate in learning and training sessions to acquire new skills in leadership, software, and equipment required in the role.
- Extensive experience in fitting and fabrication technical processes and equipment.
- Extensive knowledge of welding symbols, blueprints, shop drawings, and measurement tools.

**Knowledge and Skills**:

- Must have knowledge and experience in metal fabricated assembly processes and workflows.
- Must have experience with welding inspections.
- CWB 47.1 certification 47.2 certification or welding inspection certification preferred.
- Experience with work orders, routing documentation, Bills of Material (BOM) and assembly drawings and instructions.
- Ability to read and comprehend technical drawings with emphasis on weld symbols and tolerances.
- Sound understanding of inspection tools and standard practices for the use of measuring equipment.
- Possess effective communication and presentation skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to use a PC and experience or exposure in an ERP computerized environment.
- Experience collaborating with customers and vendors in the resolution of quality related issues is an asset.
- Experience with ISO standards and audit processes.

**Education**:

- Community college diploma in Engineering related field or quality management or equivalent work experience in quality processes and procedures.
- Minimum 5 years work related experience.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $32.50-$37.50 per hour
