Funeral Director/embalmer

**Responsibilities**:
- Funeral Director Duties:
- Meet with grieving families to discuss funeral arrangements, including service options, merchandise selection, and personalized tributes.
- Provide compassionate guidance and support to families in making decisions regarding caskets, urns, flowers, and other funeral-related items.
- Coordinate all aspects of funeral services, including scheduling visitations, ceremonies, and graveside committals.
- Ensure compliance with provincial regulations and industry standards governing funeral home operations.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions, service arrangements, and financial transactions using funeral home management software.
- Embalming Responsibilities:
- Perform embalming procedures in accordance with provincial laws, industry best practices, and ethical guidelines.
- Prepare the deceased for viewing and burial by washing, disinfecting, and preserving the body using embalming fluids and techniques.
- Dress and cosmetize the deceased to present a natural and peaceful appearance for family and friends.
- Coordinate transportation logistics for the deceased, including embalming, casketing, and preparation for final disposition.
- Client Support and Bereavement Counseling:
- Offer emotional support and counseling to grieving families, providing resources and referrals to support groups or other assistance programs as needed.
- Serve as a compassionate liaison between the funeral home and the bereaved, addressing concerns or special requests with sensitivity and empathy.
- Professional Development:
- Stay informed about current trends, practices, and regulations in the funeral service and embalming industries through ongoing education and training opportunities.
- Uphold the values and standards of Chapel of Memories Funeral Home, maintaining professionalism, integrity, and compassion in all interactions with clients and colleagues.
**Requirements**:
- Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer with accreditation from the Alberta Funeral Service Association (AFSA) or equivalent regulatory body.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working as a Funeral Director and Embalmer in a funeral home setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact empathetically with individuals from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Proficiency in funeral home management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Commitment to upholding ethical standards and confidentiality in handling sensitive information and client matters.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
