Reporting to the Assistant Manager of Engineering Operations, the Parks Superintendent is accountable for the supervisory, technical and administrative work involved in the effective operation of the Parks Operations Department within the Engineering Operations Division at the City of Delta. The incumbent is responsible for the planning, assigning, inspecting and supervising, directly and through staff, the work of crews engaged in maintenance, installation, and repair tasks. Building strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders both internal and external is vital to the role.

**Skills and Knowledge**:
You have the ability to plan ahead in order to anticipate problems and meet changing needs, generate new ideas and develop alternate solutions to problems, and the ability to meet agreed-upon timelines. Promoting and monitoring workplace safety compliance is a must in this position, along with a demonstrated ability to provide advice and support to managers, supervisors, and employees.

**Departmental responsibilities include but are not limited to**:

- Sports fields (artificial, sand, and soil-based fields)
- Turf Management and Irrigation
- Trail maintenance and vegetation control
- Playgrounds, washrooms, garbage collection, signage, lighting
- Special Events (coordinating staff and equipment for City supported events)
- Emergency response such as snow, wind, or other

**Education and Experience**:
A minimum of 10 years of parks related experience, preferably in a unionized municipal environment. This position requires a valid BC class 5 driver’s licence.
