Maintenance Operator

Lac Ste. Anne County is currently recruiting a permanent Maintenance Operator. Reporting to the Public Works Manager, this position is responsible for operating various equipment and completing duties as assigned by the Manager.
**Qualifications**
- Successfully operates equipment, with considerable care and attention, such as, but not limited to, excavator, loader, backhoe, grader, semitrailer-truck with Super B configuration, dozer, loader, reclaimer, tandem truck, light duty trucks, packer, picker truck, single axle truck, skid steer, tractor, and trailers.
- Provide training for inexperienced operators in the use of such equipment.
- Perform routine assignments in the operation of heavy equipment used in road maintenance and/or other Public Works projects.
- Supervises and/or participates in loading and unloading vehicles or equipment.
- Capable of loading and unloading heavy duty equipment, and materials.
- Follows rigging & hoisting, proper tie down requirements and safe transportation procedures.
- Complete routine work and specific assignments, to the required standards in general labour.
- Keeps County equipment in good housekeeping order, including servicing and maintenance as required.
- Maintains equipment records and work reports as required.
- Performs other duties as required by superior.
- Complies with County Occupational Health and Safety policies.
**Job Requirements**
- Class 1 Vehicle License is required. A drivers abstract will be required for employment.
- Possess the ability to safely operate all County equipment.
- Considerably experienced in the operation of heavy-duty equipment used for the maintenance and construction of roads or other related duties.
- Exhibits knowledge and ability in the maintenance and servicing of the equipment or vehicle.
- A valid First Aid Certificate would be considered an asset.
- Must work effectively and efficiently with others and alone, with little or no supervision, always be punctual, communicate openly, take directions well, and respond to public inquiries in a calm and friendly manner.
- Work may be performed in extreme temperatures or high levels of noise, or require lifting and carrying of up to 23kg, bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting, crawling, exposure to outdoor conditions, dust, and fumes, and working near equipment in high traffic areas.
- Demonstrates a high level of work performance and initiative, while providing high quality work.
- Exhibits initiative and good judgment in loading, hauling, and unloading all types and sizes of materials, supplies, machines, and equipment. Knowledge of approval methods of transporting, including loading, unloading, towing, and winching operations.
Pay: $33.06-$35.20 per hour
