Lasqueti Island Ferry

About us:
Established in 1979, Western Pacific Marine (WPM) proudly operates several ferry operations on behalf of the Province of British Columbia, and the BC Ferry Corporation.

The Lasqueti Ferry is a foot-passenger ferry operation that services Lasqueti Island throughout the year. It runs from French Creek Harbour on Vancouver Island, to False Bay (Lasqueti Island).

The 50-minute journey aboard the Centurion VII sails five days per week in autumn, winter, and spring. For the summer months, the ferry sails six days per week. The Centurion VII is a 60-passenger vessel that operates with a captain, mate, and deckhand.

Shifts rotations are two weeks on, and one week off. Accommodations are available for crew members during their shifts

Your responsibilities:
As Captain, you have responsibility for the safe passage and operation of the ferry. You will oversee all operations onboard the vessel, including navigation, maintenance, and compliance with Transport Canada regulations.

You will lead training of crew in safety procedures, ensure the vessel is seaworthy prior to every departure, captain the vessel safely, provide direction to crew members to accomplish all assignments, and maintain records of allocated personnel and resources.

Safety is our top priority and your role includes leading the crew in safety drills and emergency scenarios. You will also complete reports documenting drills, work orders, annual refits, and assist with regulatory inspections such as CSI.

**Requirements**:

- 150 Gross Tonnage certification, Transport Canada or equivalent
- Strong background in ship operations
- Sailing experience along the West Coast of British Columbia
- Positive attitude and excellent communication skills

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 50-60 per week

**Salary**: $38.50-$42.43 per hour
