ROLE PURPOSE
We’re currently seeking a motivated, compassionate, and experienced Program Coordinator to join our Kingsway Supportive Housing team. This is an opportunity for a strong leader with a background in housing, mental health, and/or substance use services to make a real difference in the lives of others.
The Program Coordinator supports the day-to-day operations of the program and plays a key role in planning, development, implementation, and oversight. You'll also contribute to program evaluation, policy development, and budget planning.
Kingsway Supportive Housing provides safe, secure housing and wraparound supports to people at risk of or experiencing homelessness, with a specific focus on female and Indigenous-identifying populations. The 65-unit program offers 24/7 support services that are tailored to the self-identified needs and goals of each resident.
STATUS
- This is a temporary position for a year or until the return of incumbent
- Unionized. This position is open to applicants of all genders.
HOURS (40 hours per week)
- Sunday to Thursday, 1000 - 1800

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Facilitates the effective day-to-day operation of the program/s by ensuring that the necessary facilities and equipment are in place, program guidelines and policies are adhered to, and program standards and licensing requirements are met.
- Provides leadership and supervision to all Tenant Support Workers, providing guidance to all employees, orientating new employees and supporting the Program Manager with performance management
- Supports all tenants who are part of the program
- Reviews and monitors client case notes, written communication tools, incident reports and other program documentation.
- Assists the Program Manager in assessing client referrals and carries out client intakes and orientation.
- Plans and develops the programs in consultation with the Program Manager or their designate. Plans and implements program activities and special events.
- Makes recommendation to the supervisor regarding program development, policy and procedure formulation and program evaluation.
- Along with the other residence staff, monitors and ensures effective operation of the facility including quality control concerning cleaning equipment, indoor and outdoor maintenance, inventory, and food services.
- Provides input into meal scheduling and preparation, including food inventory. Supports kitchen staff and kitchen related activities as needed.
- In cooperation with the management team, is available as a resource to staff, in case of emergencies. This includes participating in the on-call rotation and carrying the pager or cell phone 24 hours per day.
- Performs other related duties as required.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- A university Degree or diploma in a relevant branch of the Behavioural Sciences with an emphasis on Social Work, Sociology, and/or Psychology
- Two years of hands-on experience in a supportive housing environment or similar environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Strong leadership abilities: individual must have pervious experience providing leadership to other employee; individual must also have a be a collaborative team member
- Demonstrated ability to work with persons in crisis and persons who are disconnected from their support network
- Practical hands-on experience with the execution of harm reduction approaches; must be comfortable with working with individuals in active addiction
- Experience with clients with experiencing mental health challenges, a history of conflict with the law, developmental disabilities and/or spectrum disorders, experiencing homelessness, and interaction with social agencies
- Ability to be comfortable interacting with individual(s) who have been involved in the criminal justice system and/or are high risk/high needs/high profile individuals
- Knowledge of government and community justice services
