**Job Description**: **About MRU**: Founded in 1910 and located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Mount Royal University grew into a vibrant college in the 1930s and became a mid-sized university in 2009. Mount Royal has carved out a distinct niche by offering smaller class sizes, a robust liberal education and unique undergraduate programs. Currently, more than 15,000 credit students choose from 13 bachelor degrees and 36 majors. Mount Royal University is located in the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of the Treaty 7 region in southern Alberta, which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut'ina and the Iyarhe Nakoda. We are situated on land where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. The traditional Blackfoot name of this place is "Mohkinstsis," which we now call the city of Calgary. The city of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation. **About MRU Camps**: MRU Camps Guiding Principles: - We lead through example and are accountable for our actions. - We communicate honestly, openly and consistently. - We strive to provide inclusive programming and acknowledge diversity. - We nurture a love of learning that will last a lifetime. - We prepare campers for leadership and service in society. - We respond to challenges and use innovative ways to better serve our community. **About the Role**: MRU Camps is looking for enthusiastic individuals who are interested in sharing their knowledge, passion, and expertise with children and youth. Under the supervision of the Youth Program Coordinator, the Instructor is responsible for delivering lessons and leading campers through a variety of activities such as crafts, sports, and games. Additional responsibilities include the completion of required administrative duties and maintaining smooth, cooperative, and professional relations with staff, campers, and parents. Camp Instructors will also work closely with Camp Leaders and Volunteers. **This is a casual position working the equivalent of part-time hours. Scheduled shift times are anytime between 7:30am - 5:30pm for the following dates**: - January 31, 2025 - February 13-14, 2025 - February 28, 2025 - March 21, 2025 - March 24-28, 2025 - April 22-25, 2025 - May 16, 2025 All MRU Camps staff are required to provide the following at their own cost prior to commencement: - Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search (valid within 1 year) - Standard First Aid (valid within 2 years) and CPR Level C (valid within 1 year). **Responsibilities**: - Plan, deliver and modify program lessons and activities. - Ensure safety, well-being and enjoyment of campers from ages 6 - 12 years old. - Make accommodations for campers with varying learning needs. - Work collaboratively with co-Leaders and Instructors to deliver daily programs. - Assist camp Leaders with recreational and classroom activities. - Supervise and coordinate lunchtime, before and after care. - Administrative tasks associated with the program including camper registration, incident reports, and attendance. - Attend staff orientation and any necessary staff meetings. - Communicate professionally with parents and guardians about their child’s experience at camp. **Qualifications**: - Experience working in a childcare/educational setting delivering lesson plans and curriculum (minimum 1 year). - Previous experience working or volunteering in camp related or recreational activities is an asset. - Previous experience with curriculum design and implementation is an asset. - The ability to work well in a team and individually. - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. - Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills. - Previous experience in or a passion for Early Childhood Development, Education, Health and Physical Education, and coaching/teaching. **What We Offer**: Talented and committed employees are the driving force behind student success.
