**Role Description**

Brainiacs is looking for a patient, energetic, and safety-focused **Swim Instructor** to join our team. In this role, you’ll help children (and sometimes adults) build confidence in the water, develop proper swimming techniques, and enjoy a positive, encouraging learning experience.

**Our location is in North Van, close to a bus line and a couple minutes from the highway.**

**Key Responsibilities**
- Plan, organize, and conduct swim lessons for various age groups and skill levels following the program curriculum.
- Create a fun, supportive, and inclusive environment that encourages learning and participation.
- Demonstrate and explain swimming techniques clearly and effectively.
- Supervise participants closely to ensure safety at all times.
- Enforce pool safety rules and maintain awareness of all swimmers in the water.
- Provide individualized feedback to help students improve their skills.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians about progress and goals.
- Assist with pool setup, lesson equipment, and cleanup before and after sessions.
- Report attendance, incidents, and student progress to the Program Coordinator.
- Stay current on best practices for aquatic instruction and water safety.

**Qualifications**
- Minimum age: 16+ years (or as required by local regulations).
- Current certifications in **Lifesaving / CPR / First Aid** (required).
- **Water Safety Instructor (WSI)** or equivalent swim teaching certification preferred.
- Prior experience teaching or coaching children (preferred but not mandatory).
- Strong communication, patience, and leadership skills.
- Ability to remain calm and responsive in emergency situations.
- Enthusiasm for promoting safety, confidence, and fun in the water.

**Work Schedule & Environment**
- Flexible schedule: weekday afternoons, weekends, and/or seasonal camp sessions.
- Outdoor pool environment.
- Physical activity includes demonstrating strokes, entering/exiting the pool, and supervising in warm/humid conditions.

Pay: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
