**WORK LOCATION(S) - Oakville, Ontario** **Place of Employment**: Client’s home. **Available Hours**: Live In - Monday-Friday + Saturday or Sunday **Personal Support Worker Job Summary**: FEMALE APPLICANTS ONLY The “Personal Support at Home” Live In front line health care aide worker position acting as a representative of iCare Home Heath and providing the services offered by the company for our clients. The Home Support Worker PSW will mostly work independently of co-workers or supervisors and therefore must balance good judgment and initiative along with the policies of the company. The PSW will be required to maintain a safe working environment for themselves and their clients. It should be noted that emphasis is for the PSW to involve the client in the care program to help provide the client with the basic standards of healthy living as follows: - Friendship - Physical Activity - Mental Stimulation - Personal Contact - Nutrition - Relaxation - Humour **Personal Support Worker Qualifications**: 1. Current recognized PSW training certificate. 2. Dementia Care training and Italian speaking is an asset. 3. Current certificate in standard first aid and CPR. 4. Cooking skills, preferably in Mediterranean cuisine. 5. Police Criminal Reference Check. 6. Ability to work independently. 7. Excellent communication and listening skills. 8. Must be physically and mentally fit to handle the demands of care giving. 9. Must be passionate and committed in heart and mind in everything you do **Personal Support Worker Duties**: The following list is a guideline of possible duties to be performed independently or as a group of duties in the course of working with the client. The Companion "Friend at Home" duties are not limited to those listed. **A. Companionship and Personal Care** One of the most important aspects of iCare Home Health will be providing clients with a strong sense of self-esteem and independence. Taking a genuine interest in the client, their life and their environment will help create a true sense of companionship. Whether it is encouraging to eat, shower, or playing a favourite board game or card game, reading, taking a stroll or visiting with friends and neighbours, companionship provides the depth of our services. **B. Housekeeping and Laundry** The Companion will provide, changing bedding, pre-washing, washing, drying, ironing and folding laundry and general tidying of living spaces as required or requested. It may also include caring for pets. **C. Kitchen Work** Grocery shopping (if required), preparing menus and meals, cooking, baking, serving, assisting with eating, washing and drying dishes and general tidying up is included. **D. Transportation to Appointments** A Companion may drive their car and transport a client to an appointment or errand if the team member has written authorization from the company to do so.
