Our Family Practice Clinic is seeking an experienced RPN/Medical Assistant. The position will be 4 days per week (Monday - Thursday: 8:30 to 5:00 p.m. 30 hours per week) with flexibility required for occasional evenings and weekends for After Hour Clinics. You will work within an established family practice and with all members of the health care team in the promotion of patient health and prevention of diseases. The RPN will practice within his/her full scope of practice as outlined in the Standards of Practice by the College of Nurses of Ontario.

This position involves both clinical and administrative duties, including: effective appointment scheduling, chart management, answering messages, booking consults and tests, monthly billing and reconciliations, office organization, direct patient care and assisting the physician.
- Answer phones and direct the caller to the appropriate party if necessary
- Greet patients upon arrival, sign them in and gather any other necessary data
- Schedule appointments for new and recurring patients based on Physician availability
- Maintain patient records and management of incoming/outgoing documents
- Frequent review of messages and prompt response
- Assist patient in scheduling testing for off-site services or specialist consults
- Process payments from patients for uninsured visits
- OHIP billing and reconciliation monthly.

**Clinical Responsibilities**
- Bring patients into clinic rooms and provide vitals and basic history as indicated
- Assist with procedures as needed
- Administer immunizations and ensure immunizations are up-to-date.
- Administer clinical procedures such as suture removal, skin and wound dressings, TB testing and ear syringing.
- Perform blood pressures, follow-ups, assess response to medications

**Practice Environment**
- Ensure adequate stock and appropriate storage of immunizations duties.
- Maintain clean, orderly and well-stocked examination rooms.
- Handle all specimens as infectious. Dispose of sharp objects and specimens appropriately.
- Sterilize office medical equipment.

**Qualifications**
- Current Certificate of Registration for Registered Practical Nurse with a minimum of one year experience
- Medical administration experience is an asset
- Ability to handle a fast-paced environment, multi-tasking and prioritization of tasks
- Excellent communication and problem solving skills
- Ability to do basic triage
- Ability to receive and adapt to new ideas and constructive feedback
- Thorough understanding of medical terminology
- Attention to detail with meticulous record keeping
- Familiarity with an EMR is an asset
- Willingness to take on large scope of roles in order to make office run as effectively as possible

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: $27.00-$29.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week
