**THE OPPORTUNITY**

**Job Summary**

The Housekeeper at Phoenix Society performs heavy to light cleaning duties to ensure that the suites in the facility are in a clean and orderly condition, in tandem with other janitorial staff and volunteers.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**

**Custodial Services**
- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming
- Gather and empty all garbage, recycling and compost bins
- Service, clean and supply restrooms
- Clean and polish furniture and fixtures
- Clean windows, glass partitions and mirrors
- Dust furniture, walls, machines and equipment
- Steam-clean and/or shampoo carpets or rugs
- Make beds and keep linens in stock as needed
- Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment

**Maintenance Services**
- Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after cleaning and checking electrical appliances to ensure that hazards are not created
- Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems
- Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties
- Maintains and organizes cleaning equipment, materials and supplies

**THE CANDIDATE**

**Qualifications**
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 to 3 years of experience providing cleaning and/or housekeeping services
- Satisfactory completion of a criminal records check with vulnerable sector screening
- Satisfactory completion of Tuberculosis Screen form
- Satisfactory completion of Employee Immunization Record form
- First Aid certification with CPR

**Skills & Knowledge**
- Demonstrated experience in cleaning and/or housekeeping
- Strong organizational and time management skills with a high attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English
- Ability to perform heavy to light cleaning duties
- Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance
- Demonstrated commitment to the social sector with a passion for the organization’s mission is essential
