Marine Fiberglass / Gel Coat Technician

**DUTIES**

**FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Cutting and measuring fiberglass materials according to specifications.
- Mixing resins and catalysts in the correct proportions.
- Using rollers and brushes to consolidate the fiberglass and resin, ensuring there are no voids or air bubbles.
- Maintaining equipment used in the repair process.
- Ensuring all finished products meet quality standards and safety regulations.
- Cleaning up work areas after the completion of projects.
- Mix paints and gelcoat materials and pigments to achieve desired colors and textures.
- Repair and touch up damaged gel coats, matching colors and textures to the existing surface.
- Perform quality inspections to identify imperfections, such as air bubbles or uneven finishes, and rectify them promptly.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines for handling chemicals, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Maintain and clean equipment, including spray guns, brushes, and mixing tools, to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with other team members, such as boat repair technicians or boatyard personnel, to coordinate workflow and prioritize projects.
- Keep accurate records of materials used, time spent on each project, and any additional notes or observations.
- Stay updated on industry trends, and techniques through continuous learning and professional development.
- Assist with winterization and boat wrapping in the fall.
- Detail as needed.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- If unexperienced, the willingness and aptitude to learn and retain new knowledge and skills.
- A positive and upbeat attitude and the ability to work in a fast paced time sensitive environment.
- Proven experience as a Marine Fiberglass / Gel Coat Technician or in a similar role within the marine industry.
- Proficient in color matching and blending paints and gelcoat pigments.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality finishes with mínimal errors.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently, managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Basic knowledge of boat construction and materials.
- Familiarity with safety practices and protocols when working with chemicals and hazardous materials.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with team members and customers.
- Highly responsive and committed to delivering exceptional customer satisfaction in a timely manner.
- Adapt to varying weather conditions, both indoors and outdoors.
