Arctic Kingdom: Equipment Manager

**Position Purpose**:
This position plays a key role in ensuring all required field equipment - vehicles, boats, clothing, camp equipment - is available for each expedition. The incumbent oversees the procurement and ongoing management of all inventory required for each guest experience, ensuring equipment is kept in top condition and provided on site as required.
The position is ultimately responsible for the overall process from procurement to delivery to inventory to customer experience with the main deliverables being field equipment management, arranging for transport of field equipment to sites, and inventory control.
**Responsibilities**:
**Equipment Management**:
- Manages the fleet of motorized equipment - boats, ATVs, snowmobiles - including preventative maintenance, registration, and insurance.
- Manages all camp equipment supplies, including firearms, and ensures all are in good working order.
- Manages the field equipment and clothing rental programs, and liaises with Guest Services, to plan for guest needs.
- Routinely tests new and existing field equipment to ensure product is received in good condition, and remains operational; arranges for all repairs to equipment and carries out simple maintenance.
- Oversees the safe storage of all field equipment.
- Defines all equipment kits, and works with the Logistics Coordinator to prepare the kits.
**Logistics**:
- Develops excellent relationships with suppliers, and communicates promptly regarding any issues or concerns.
- Oversees the supply chain operation, and optimizes logístical procedures.
- Liaises with other departments to convey logístical information relative to given expeditions.
- Sources and selects optimal transportation activities, and monitors existing logistics systems for possible gaps or opportunities for improvement.
- Prepares and/or reviews all routing orders, and ensures the timely pick-up and delivery of shipments.
- Monitors shipments, costs, and timelines; addresses and resolves shipment discrepancies and/or issues.
**Procurement**:
- Negotiates rates for products and services around logistics, equipment, and other supplies.
- Ensures Finance receives all POs, receipts, supplier statements, authorizations, and so forth, adhering to procurement processes.
- Reviews rental rates and pricing models against operating costs to ensure profitability, and makes recommendations to Finance and the CEO around pricing models.
- Ensures all reporting team members follow proper procurement procedures.
**Technology / Innovation**:
- Identifies gaps in service, reviews internal procedures for inefficiencies, and works with departments to find solutions; works to ensure issues are addressed proactively on the ground.
- Continuously reassesses equipment, suppliers, and logistic methods in an effort to reduce operating costs.
- Manages the equipment budget and tracks equipment costs; works within assigned budgets as tied to specific projects, particularly around additional purchases and freight.
**Supervisory**:
- Provides direction, advice, and guidance to the Logistics Coordinator.
- Identifies when temporary resource needs are required, and work with HR to hire temporary contractors or employees such as mechanics.
**Administrative**:
- Sources and maintains a supplier information database and inventory management system.
- Drafts all policies, procedures, and training materials needed to effectively manage equipment, logistics, and inventory.
- Provides training to other Arctic Kingdom employees on procurement, equipment management, and logistics processes and procedures as needed.
- Drafts reports as needed.
- Tracks metrics associated with equipment - vendor defects, delivery timelines, etc for reporting and other purposes.
Any other duties as required from time to time.
**Minimum Experience Required**
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in logistics and supply chain management.
- Proven track record in hand-on equipment management, including small engine repair.
- Experience with fleet management.
- Experience in working with vendors and suppliers.
