**Aquatics Coordinator - Temporary Full Time (6-month contract)**:
Reporting to the Supervisor of Aquatics, the Aquatics Coordinator is accountable for quality assurance, program planning, scheduling, staff development, public relations and administration for the aquatics section. This position is responsible to recruit, train, supervise, lead, coach, evaluate and manage staff performance to ensure quality levels are maintained. The Aquatics Coordinator acts as a liaison for internal and external customers and residents to provide expertise in the supervision and programming at aquatic facilities while meeting community needs. They ensure adherence to Ministry of Health and Lifesaving Society standards and promote aquatic safety within the community while meeting specific sectional goals and objectives.
**Job Duties Include**:
- Oversees Aquatic Programs & Services, including public swim, lane swim, ladies only swim, leadership, teens, adults, child and youth lessons at multiple facilities.
- Performs regular program visits to monitor successful delivery of program standards and evaluates aquatic programs.
- Schedules pool space for programs and services, and adds or discontinues programs based on trends and market research.
- Receives and monitors Program evaluation forms.
- Responsible for Aquatic Registration and Active Net maintenance.
- Selects, trains, coaches and supervises a large team of part-time staff and volunteers.
- Screens applicants, drafts interview questions, organizes and conducts wet and dry interviews.
- Creates a positive work environment where people want to do their best; recognizes collaborative and team-based behaviors.
- Coaches employees on the value of diversity and inclusiveness to meet goals and objectives.
- Conducts new staff orientations.
- Prepares staff schedules and special swim schedules as required.
- Composes and issues staff evaluations, coaching logs, verbal and written warnings, and makes recommendations for discipline and dismissal as required.
- Provides customer service and aquatic/recreation education to residents.
- Responds to customer service emergency situations.
- Prepares online content submissions for area of responsibility and coordinates and contributes to event promotional material.
**Qualifications/Skills**:
- Completion of a College Diploma or University Degree within Recreation/Leisure Studies or a related discipline is required.
- Minimum four (4) years of progressively responsible experience within Recreation or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years’ aquatic supervisory experience, or a combination of training, education and experience deemed equivalent.
- Experience in all aspects of staff management including recruitment, selection, training, coaching and supervision.
- Must posses the following Aquatic qualifications, that are current within 2 years: Life Saving Society (LSS) National Lifeguard Service Award, LSS Swim Instructor, LSS Lifesaving Instructor/Examiner.
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR C certification.
- High Five - Principles of Healthy Child Development certification.
- Valid Class ‘G’ Ontario driver's license with a clear driver's abstract.
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Active Net.
- Programming and scheduling skills.
- Excellent leadership, oral and written communication, organization and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated decision making capabilities.
- Knowledge and experience related to the delivery of infant, child, youth, teen, adult, leadership and inclusion aquatic programs and services.
- Strong knowledge of aquatic operations including legislation and industry standards related to the operation of public swimming pools and spas.
- Maintains current qualifications and recertifies every two years.
**Nice to Have**:
- LSS NLS Instructor/Examiner certification is an asset.
- LSS Swim & Lifesaving Instructor Trainer & Examiner certification is an asset.
- Standard First Aid & CPR C Instructor certification is an asset.
- High Five - Quest certification is an asset.
**What we Offer to Staff**:
- Rate of Pay: $51.21 - $64.01 per hour.
- Hours of Work: This 6-month contract is a non-union position that works 35 hours per week. The hours of work are typically Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., however evening and weekend shifts are required on occasion to attend meetings, programs and events.
