**GENERAL STATEMENT**

**TYPICAL DUTIES**
- Performs the duties of a Groundskeeper I and, in addition:

- Operates and maintains grounds irrigation systems including changing heads, repairing lines, cleaning, winterizing and charging systems;
- Drives College truck for picking up supplies, trailering equipment to work site, dumping of waste materials, etc.;
- Applies pesticides ensuring safety of self and others;
- Instructs Groundskeeper I’s on performance of duties and performs limited supervisory duties in absence of Groundskeeper III;
- Performs emergency mechanical repair work in case of breakdown of grounds equipment;
- Performs routine mechanical maintenance such as greasing, oiling, plugs and filters, complex repairs will be referred to qualified mechanic;
- Performs tune ups on gas operated equipment;
- Assists Groundskeeper III in compiling purchase orders by advising on supplies or equipment required;
- Contacts contractors and suppliers as necessary to order parts and obtain estimates as directed;
- Performs lawn maintenance: cutting, fertilizing, aeration;
- Performs landscaping: pruning, planting, design;
- Performs parking lot/pathway maintenance: sweeping, snow removal;
- Performs other related duties similar in scope and complexity.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

Relevant short courses equivalent to a Level I Practical Horticulture certificate. Two years of related work experience. Must have a valid B.C. driver’s license. Must be in good physical health. Must have the ability to operate all equipment pertaining to grounds maintenance, and have a sound mechanical aptitude and ability. Possession of a valid pesticide license an asset.

**Salary**: $25.52-$27.26 per hour
