Facilities and Electrical Coordinator

**PURPOSE OF POSITION**:
Responsible for organizing and administering all plant activities from an electrical perspective aiming at eliminating downtime and improving efficiencies in production and throughout the facility, as well as continuously monitoring the maintenance of plant services.
**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES**:
- Ensure safety procedures and all related safety and security regulations are compiled with by the maintenance department. Take action to correct unsafe work habits. Operate equipment safely. Report and/or correct unsafe work conditions as appropriate.
- Ensure work areas in area of responsibility are maintained in a neat and orderly condition in accordance with established housekeeping standards.
- Comply with the facility environmental policy and any applicable operational controls in order to meet the established environmental objectives and targets.
- Take an active role in the implementation and maintenance of World Class Manufacturing principles and practices.
- Develop positive working relationships with employees, addressing concerns and resolving issues proactively while working with the collective agreement.
- Counsel or take appropriate disciplinary action as it relates to personnel performance/behaviour.
- Continuously monitor the maintenance of plant services.
- Provide guidance, instruction and assistance to maintenance and robotics personnel and sub-contractors in the repair, maintenance or installation of a production equipment.
- Ensure preventative maintenance tasks applicable to plant production and service equipment are completed in a timely manner.
- Initiate the purchase of spare parts and equipment necessary to keep the plant and manufacturing equipment operational.
- Successfully complete other projects as assigned from time to time.
- Ensure that repairs to production and plant equipment are carried out efficiently, economically and safely.
- Investigate and rectify non-standard processes and equipment conditions.
- Champion work groups, C.I.T. and/or problem solving teams in the resolution of electrical problems.
- Optimize the utilization of labour and other resources to meet production requirements.
- Coordinate appropriate training for electricians.
- Ensure work conducted by the department is within the guidelines, rules, and regulations established by CpK Interior Products, Ontario Hydro, the Ministry of Labour and any other applicable government bodies.
- Maintain familiarity with the inner operations of the facility equipment, and strive to constantly improve downtime and performance by initiating, recommending and following through on modifications to equipment.
- Analyze maintenance data to identify trends and initiate corrective/preventative action to obviate downtime.
- Assist in the establishment of specifications, engineering standards, request for quotes for modifications, or appropriation of facilities.
- Participates as a member of the product development team in the introduction and start-up of new products, processes and procedures, and as a member of product enhancement team working for continuous improvement of current production programs.
- Provide engineering related services, including design and technical support for the electrical/electronic discipline including commissioning, maintenance and production of equipment and the process for products.
- Liaise with Engineering to prepare preliminary drawings, layouts, and specifications from verbal or written design criteria and update as required.
- Be proactive in the maintenance and upgrading of associated technological improvements and advancements and comprehensively report findings and their potential implementation.
- Meet established financial and cost saving objectives.
**JOB REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge/Skill/Experience)**
- Electrical Technician/Technologist (CET)
- Valid Certificate of Qualification as an Electrician or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and basic Millwrighting is required
- Five years industrial experience (in a unionized environment preferred), working with computer operated controls (robotic experience preferred) including time spent in a supervisory role
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good organizational and inter-personal skills
- Proven team development and relationship building capabilities
- Interpretative ability to work with different types of drawings; electrical, electronic, mechanical, etc.
- Advanced PLC programming experience
- Ability to evaluate and estimate equipment repair completion times.
