**Job Description Summary**: We are seeking an experienced EHS Specialist to provide oversight and drive the Environmental, Health, and Safety programs for GE Hitachi Vernova Nuclear’s business in Canada. The EHS Specialist will offer leadership, guidance, and technical expertise to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, corporate policies, and industry best practices. This role is vital in fostering a strong safety culture, mitigating risks, and promoting the health and safety of employees, contractors, and stakeholders.

**ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Conduct routine field safety assessments at project sites to promote a strong safety culture and a safety conscience work environment (SCWE)
- Ensure compliance with all company, local, state, and federal requirements.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with clients through effective communication and interaction, aligning safety practices with client expectations.
- Participate in project readiness meetings.
- Ensure effective implementation of GE Hitachi Vernova Nuclear’s EHS management system including policy, training, effective risk assessment, inspection, auditing, event management and analysis, in line with GE Vernova standards and procedures.
- Utilize Gensuite, GE Hitachi Vernova Nuclear’s EHS software suite, to document EHS activities including incidents and events, compliance calendar tasks, employee hours and I&I rate, risk assessments, chemical management processes, etc.
- Conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify hazards and implement corrective measures.
- Partner with project managers, supervisors, and contractors to proactively identify and mitigate safety risks.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and ensure timely reporting and corrective actions.
- Track, analyze, and report safety performance metrics, identifying trends and recommending improvements.
- Promote a positive safety culture through visible leadership, coaching, and engagement at all levels of the workforce.

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or other closely related technical discipline from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in EHS and large-scale commercial, government, construction or industrial project management

**ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS**:

- This position will require someone to work onsite 5 days a week in Oshawa at the DNNP site.
- An offer of employment is conditional upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
- Must maintain after hours cell phone availability.
- Must have flexibility with schedule (early morning, late evening, etc.) and maintain after hours cell phone availability.

**DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS**
- Demonstrated experience working with all company municipal, provincial, and federal requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, in both written and verbal form, to a wide variety of stakeholders.
- Experience in the nuclear industry preferred.
- Possesses the ability to represent GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear in a professional manner to outside agencies, customers, vendors, and relevant stakeholders.
- Demonstrated capability of understanding construction processes
- Prior experience with controlled documentation/documentation change management
- Demonstrated initiative in proactively identifying future potential safety risks and suggesting or implementing appropriate countermeasures.
- Leadership ability: strong communicator, decision-maker, collaborative
- Problem solver: analytical-minded, challenges existing processes, critical thinker
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and other basic IT systems.
- Proven ability to negotiate successfully with regulatory agencies.
- Highly motivated individual with strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
- Ability to communicate cross-functionally and work independently.
- Open communication style with the ability to develop team relationships.
