This position plays a vital role in our integrated, client-centered service delivery model, ensuring applicants receive comprehensive assistance throughout the intake and assessment process. This position is the primary contact for individuals and families experiencing difficulties related to financial and personal functioning, offering support and advocacy via phone and face-to-face interactions.
**Duties will include but are not limited to**:
- Conducting intake screening assessments for AAS applicants via phone or in-person, responding to inquiries regarding program guidelines, and assessing needs and risk factors during interviews.
- Identifying situations requiring immediate intervention or referral, including emergency financial needs that may require Social Assistance.
- Determining eligibility in accordance with Program Acts/Regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Analyzing presented information to confirm accuracy and evaluate the need for appropriate follow-up.
- Coordinating the eligibility and clinical assessment process, liaising with the eligibility committee and Clinical Assessors, booking clinical assessments, and scheduling intake appointments for the AccessAbility Support Coordinator.
- Developing clear and concise written correspondence regarding complex issues related to program eligibility.
- Working closely with the Manager of Clinical Support.
- Other duties as required.
**Minimum Qualifications**:
- The incumbent must have a University Degree in a discipline related to the duties of the position preferably in Social Sciences.
- Experience working with individuals and their families in the area of social services.
- Experience working in social programs is preferred.
- Demonstrated equivalencies will be considered.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of community resources, including but not limited to Child and Family Services, Mental Health Services, Addiction Services, School systems, Police, Housing, medical services, counselling services, Family Violence workers, shelters, youth justice etc.
- Knowledge of the legislative requirements, regulations, policies and procedures and the mission, beliefs and vision of the Social Programs Division.
- Requires skills in risk assessment, counselling, critical thinking, group work and crisis intervention.
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
- This position requires excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal, time management, problem solving and organizational skills.
- Requires computer literacy with experience using a variety of software programs ie. Outlook, ISM, word perfect, Microsoft word
- Valid PEI Driver’s license.
- A good previous work and attendance record and an acceptable criminal record check and vulnerable sector record check
**Other Qualifications**:
- Requires a knowledge of cultural needs and diversity.
- Experience working with people with disabilities and their families that would indicate an understanding of the impacts and barriers faced by people with disabilities
