The Chateau Lacombe Hotel is currently recruiting a dynamic **Second Cook** to join our growing team

The Second Cook is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of hospitality and food safety are demonstrated at all times. You must be passionate about creating memorable meals for our guests in the operation of our very own and only revolving restaurant in Edmonton, La Ronde Restaurant.

**Responsibilities**:

- Performs all duties of the culinary and related kitchen area, step-in and assisting during high-demand times.
- Opens and closes kitchen shifts and ensures completion of assigned duties.
- Ensure all equipment in the kitchen is clean and in good working condition & report any deficiencies in a timely manner.
- Observing & practicing high standards of cleanliness and promoting safety in the workplace in accordance with established occupational health and safety regulations and hotel standards.
- Operates all department equipment as necessary and reports malfunctions.
- Assists in purchasing appropriate supplies and manages food and supply inventories according to budget.
- Understands and implements hotels’ safety standards.
- Ensure all staff follows cleaning schedules and keeps their work areas clean and sanitary.
- Communicates areas in need of attention to staff and follows up to ensure follow-through.
- Participates as needed in the investigation of staff accidents.
- Understands and complies with loss prevention policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of kitchen and restaurant operational procedures
- Knowledge of basic sanitation requirements and food handling safety standards
- Decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Have a good understanding of food costing and waste control
- Strong customer and staff relation skills
- Knowledge of governmental regulations and safety standards (WCB, WHMIS, MSDS)

**Job Specifications and Skills**:

- Cooking experience in a high-volume environment is desirable
- Superior quality management, organizational skills, and attention to detail are mandatory
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Maintains a positive attitude
- Versatile, able to work under pressure
- Excellent command of the English language - oral, written, reading
- Contributes to building a positive team spirit.
- Able to work in a diverse work environment.
- Must be able to work evening and weekend shifts.
- Involves standing for long periods of time, walking, sitting, bending, carrying.
