We are searching for an engaging, courteous Barista who is passionate about food and beverage preparation and education. The Barista will greet guests, answer their questions, retrieve menu and beverage orders and accept payments, and prepare and serve food and drinks. You will also maintain a clean and well-stocked workspace and cafe area, update displays, and continuously expand your knowledge of food and beverage quality controls, preparation methods, and presentation. To succeed as a barista, you should be committed to providing guests with excellent service. You should be positive, friendly, knowledgeable, and polite.
- Welcoming guests into the Coffeehouse, informing them about specials or new items, answering questions, and accepting orders and payments.
- Preparing foods, such as sandwiches or baked goods, and grinding and blending coffee beans, brewing coffee and tea, and serving specialty items to our guests.
- Packaging food and beverages for sale.
- Facilitating beer sales from our bottle shop (if required)
- Selling coffee and tea blends and brewing equipment, highlighting the differences between items and educating guests about brewing methods.
- Cleaning and restocking work and coffeehouse areas, emptying trash, and sanitizing equipment and utensils.
- Learning about brewing methods, beverage blends, food preparation, and presentation techniques to improve food quality.
- Assist with coffee packaging in preparation for retail display rack.
- Ensure in the overall cleanliness of the café (continuously sweep, mop and wipe surfaces when free to do so)
- Updating signage and displays to attract internal and external guests.
- Taking inventory and replenishing items in display cases, at dairy table, or behind the counter.
- Working as part of a fun, high-energy team.
- Adhering to all health and food safety regulations and quality controls.

Barista Requirements:

- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous coffee knowledge an asset.

Experience in food and beverage preparation or customer service preferred. Training and willingness to continue learning about food and beverage preparation.
- Exceptional listening and communication skills.
- Ability to walk, bend, and stand for extended periods.
- Availability to work around peak hours, including nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
- A polite, engaging personality.
- Commitment to customer satisfaction and service excellence.
- Willingness to work as part of a high-energy, efficient team in a fast-paced environment
- Smart Serve certified or willing to obtain

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 24-40 per week

**Salary**: $16.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability

Supplemental pay types:

- Overtime pay
- Tips
