Edmonton, Canada Ventura Foods Full time

**Position Overview**:Reporting to the Production and Warehouse Manager, the Shipper is responsible for the safe, efficient transportation of raw materials, packaging and finished goods within the plant and warehouse in accordance with General Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements.

**Coverage in case of Absence**:In the absence of a Shipper, another Shipper or warehouse associate will cover his/her designated post.

**Key Deliverables and Responsibilities**:

- Pick and stage raw materials needed for production
- Loading of finished products for dispatch
- Unloading of inbound trucks and receiving of inbound materials including:

- Checking material against bill of lading, and signing receipts.
- Ensuring all other paperwork and inventory control documentation is completed
- Receiving and storing raw materials and packaging deliveries
- Putting materials away into appropriate locations, according to sequence and coding
- Order picking
- Making, transporting and storing skids
- Pre - op maintenance checks on forklift equipment
- Stocking and re-stocking released raw materials from manufacturing and hold areas.
- Handling internal inquiries and provide assistance in locating and delivering materials.
- Inspect for quality, quantity and correct material, conformity to existing material already in stock and WHMIS labelling, if applicable.
- Train others as required
- Accurate & timely reporting of all quality issues
- Follow all proper maintenance, sanitation and Health & Safety protocols at all times.
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and general housekeeping
- Perform other tasks as required

**Qualifications/Experience**:

- Able to perform above duties in a fast paced environment
- Able to multi-task, prioritize and problem solve
- Able to operate material handling equipment in a safe manner, consistent with established procedures, including maintaining forklift batteries, conducting daily circle checks and completing required documentation.
- Good knowledge of inventory control and order picking.
- Able to count, sort, code, and record information as required for inventory control
- Good knowledge of GMPs, SOPs, Health & Safety procedures, including, OHSA & WHMIS.
- Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team.
- Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors as a Quality Focused, Service Oriented Team Player.
- Able to operate forklift and power jack safely while following company training & policies.

**Reporting of any Food Safety or Quality Problems**:
Staff are to report any food safety or food quality problems or concerns that they become aware of to personnel with authority to initiate action.
