**JOB** SUMMARY**: The Early Childhood Development Worker reports to and works under the direction and supervision of the Program Supervisor - Child and Youth Health Team.

The Early Childhood Development Worker delivers Early Childhood Development (ECD) services in Six Nations Community Elementary Schools, in collaboration with partners within the Six Nations of the Grand River Community. To provide individual and small group support in collaboration with Child and Youth Health Team. To provide supports throughout the year to infants/children 0-6 years and their families in collaboration with programs under the Child and Youth Health portfolio and community partners.

**Wage**

Minimum $49,500 per annum

**BASIC QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Registered Early Childhood Educator or Early Childhood Educator Equivalency as set by the College of Early Childhood Educators.
- Must have a minimum of six months demonstrated ability in providing early interventions in the lives of children and their families.

OR
- Successful completion of a recognized Child and Youth Care Diploma Program with at least 3 years of experience working directly with children and families
- Member of the College of Early Childhood Educators in good standing.
- Possess a Class G License
- Current Standard First Aid including CPR Level C

**REPORTING RELATIONSHIP**:
Reports to and works under the direction and supervision of the Program Supervisor - Child and Youth Health Team.

**PURPOSE & SCOPE OF THE POSITION**:
To deliver Early Childhood Development (ECD) services in Six Nations Community Elementary Schools, in collaboration with partners within the Six Nations of the Grand River Community.

To provide individual and small group support in collaboration with Child and Youth Health Team.

To provide supports throughout the year to infants/children 0-6 years and their families in collaboration with programs under the Child and Youth Health portfolio and community partners.

**KEY** DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Technical Functions**:

- Provides advocacy for client referrals and works collaboratively with school staff to complete and submit referrals to Child and Youth Health and/or Community partners
- Supports successful transitions for children entering or returning-to-school, in collaboration with families and school staff
- Works collaboratively with school staff and the Child and Youth Health team to design and implement Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in the classrooms
- Maintains a current record on each client; including a Plan of Care and adheres to all privacy requirements for electronic charting
- Follows procedures for initiating, monitoring, and discontinuing service when appropriate
- Develops and implements individual and group programming for children to build developmental skills at home and school
- Supports children on an individual basis when a referral to ECD is received.
- Assists the Program Supervisor in annual program evaluations
- Supports the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Coordinator in connecting families that require service and serves as a liaison with Six Nation Schools.
