**Shop Welding Foreman**

Weldco Heavy Industries (WHI) is a large steel fabrication and repair facility located in the Fort McKay Caribou Energy Park. Strategically positioned in the heart of Alberta’s Oil Sands, WHI can effectively meet the requirements for large steel repair, assembly and refurbishment in the industry.

**What you will do**:

- Schedule and assign daily work to the lead hands for all shop work
- Shop floor checks
- Ensures all corporate and legislative requirements, including documentation, for critical lifts, FLRA and hazard assessments and personal protective equipment are continually fulfilled
- Enforces all safety rules, safety regulations, policies and procedures
- Transition work scopes from out going to incoming shift
- Monitor ongoing work to meet delivery dates.
- Ensures workmanship on finished products meets or exceeds expectations
- Ensures commitments for delivery and quality are met in a cost effective and efficient manner while maintaining safe work.
- Good housekeeping including proper storage of all equipment including hoisting and rigging equipment. (slings, shackles etc.)
- Monitor critical aspects on jobs including weld temperatures, measurements, overall adherence to current scope of work
- Work order time and attendance approval and monitoring
- Promotes continuous improvement of product and streamlines procedures
- Attends safety meetings and implements new programs as required
- Conveys job expectations and requirements clearly and concisely and ensure job objectives are met

**Your qualifications**:

- Alberta Journeyman Welding Ticket Red Seal Certification
- Formal supervisory/management training
- CWB Supervisor Certification or Level 2 inspector

**What you bring to the position**:

- 5 years manufacturing experience in a production shop
- A minimum of 2+ years of supervisory experience is preferred
- Leadership skills to guide and lead the team
- In-depth knowledge of tools and equipment in steel fabrication and welding operations
- Problem solving skills to methodically and logically work through technical and non-technical problems
- Works with established goals
- Collaborates with others to achieve company objectives
- Exercises good judgment when handling sensitive issues and resolving disputes
- Self-motivated to manage his or her time effectively and productively
