**ABOUT THE ROLE**

The Family and Community Worker provides a range of outreach, prevention and early intervention services to children and youth aged 0-15 and families to enhance and maintain a child, youth and family’s development and access to services within the community. The role additionally acts as a means to build networks within the family unit and community to prevent children from entering the Child Welfare System.

**_ Salary range:_** _$58,001.07 to $67,543.09 per annum_

This position is represented by OPSEU local 567.

There are 2 full-time contract (1 year) positions available.

**WHAT YOU WILL DO**
- To provide a range of services that are responsive to a child, youth, and families individual needs that enhances and maintains their development within in the community.
- To engage in professional development activities and record accurate client information that is reflective of policy, accreditation and ministry standards, while illustrating the goals, targets and deliverables of identified services.
- To respond and participate in organizational wide initiatives.
- Work in collaboration with the child/youth and family, and child welfare services team to assess child/youth and family support systems and identify areas of strength and opportunities for family network expansion.

**THE “MUST HAVES”**

The following education, professional memberships and knowledge are a requirement for this role:

- CYW Diploma or related bachelor’s degree in Child and Youth Work/Counselling, Social Work, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years experience supporting child, youth and families in navigating relevant systems (Child Welfare, Education, Mental Health etc.)
- Sound understanding of the child welfare system and the Child, Youth and Family Services Act
- Awareness of the role of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and within the community being served by the position.
- An understanding of anti-black racism, anti-oppressive/anti-racism perspective in the context of the social determinants of health.
- Ability to recognize and identify situations where incidents of imbalance of power and privilege may occur and can result in possible negative impacts.

**THE ‘NICE TO HAVES’**
- Functional computer and client information system knowledge.
- Fluency in another language(s), including sign language.
