IO’s Project Delivery Enterprise Team delivers some of the province’s largest and most important public infrastructure projects, including new hospitals, highways, transit systems, and courthouses. Our made-in-Ontario approach to modern project delivery has brought over 100 major projects to market and has made Ontario a global leader in infrastructure development by delivering new projects on time and on budget while meeting high standards for design, quality, and health and safety.
The role is responsible for the management and implementation of assigned projects. This includes the delivery of Capital Projects (renovations, additions and/or new builds) as assigned. These projects will include the day-to-day management of projects (including management of Consultants and Contractors), coordination with Ministry clients, and the internal coordination with other Infrastructure Ontario (IO) divisions in support of the implementation of the project. The role will be required to continually engage and build relationships with Ministry stakeholders and external project partners, providing the forum for open, safe and collaborative workplace environment.
- To be successful in this role, the incumbent brings sound project management and stakeholder management skills, the ability to adapt quickly and respond to a changing environment, and experience finding positive solutions to issues with clients and diverse teams of project Consultants and Contractors. The ability to coach, mentor and delegate to a team of junior colleagues would be an asset.
**What You Will Do**:
- Lead, plan and deliver the end-to-end delivery of assigned ICI project(s) in accordance with approved scope, budget and schedule, following Stipulated Sum and Construction Management Methodologies.
- Lead and manage the production of all project deliverables, for scope, schedule and budget, including design documentation, construction documents, schedules, budgeting and compliance with applicable standards and municipal and provincial authorities’ regulations. Understanding of project schedules is required.
- Lead and manage the project administration processes for external consultant(s), contractors, and specialty vendors. This includes financial management of contracts, negotiations, dispute resolution, and/or interpretation and terms of agreement(s) on behalf of the organization.
- Prepare monthly and ad hoc reports for both internal and external stakeholders. Present findings to stakeholders.
- Facilitate and build effective relationships and timely communication between Infrastructure Ontario, client(s), consultant(s), Project Management team(s) contractor(s), Equipment Vendor(s) and Specialty Vendor(s) to create positive relationships.
- Develop and proactively identify project risks and establish mitigation measures in coordination with internal and external project team members and Ministry(s), creating positive outcomes.
- Manage the procurement of external consultant(s), contractor(s), and any specialty vendor(s) to support delivery of assigned projects.
- Act as the Infrastructure Ontario representative for internal and external committee(s) and meeting(s) related to project activities and prepare and deliver presentations for a variety of stakeholders to support project delivery.
- Participate with the Direct Delivery team in the continual improvement process updating tools, processes and methodologies.
- Coordinate and manage internal and external vendors for Due Diligence studies, including environmental assessment, air quality testing, transportation design, accessibility, hazardous materials and/or sustainability as required to execute assigned project(s).
**What We’re Looking For**:
- Substantial hands-on experience in a Project Management related role, successfully leading ICI projects through all stages of predesign, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and closeout.
- Experience or education in a related discipline such as Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, and/or Project Finance.
- PMP certification (or working towards it).
- Experience managing projects using various contract types such as; CCDC-2, CCDC- 5B, CCDC-14 etc.
- Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating and building lasting and successful working relationships with client(s), internal and external stakeholders.
- Good knowledge of applicable legislation, building codes, and Occupational Health and Safety regulations related to the design and construction industry considered an asset.
- Experienced in effectively resolving technical design, construction, legal, budget, scope and schedule issues with a view to proactively manage risk and facilitate positive solutions with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Proficient computer skills, including MS Office Suite and Project Management software.
