**The Opportunity**:
The City of Red Deer is currently recruiting for a **Signs Labourer 2** to fill a permanent full-time position. The Signs Labourer 2 is responsible to install, maintain, repair and remove Traffic and Street signs and posts. Plans, directs, inspects and maintains the installation & removal of temporary traffic control devices. Performs other miscellaneous labouring duties, as instructed.
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Twelve months on the job experience, to provide knowledge of the correct methods of installing signage and proper temporary traffic control methods.
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license
- Ability to acquire knowledge of the City’s geography, as considerable travelling is involved.
- The Signs Labourer requires the ability to operate various power tools (e.g. pionjar, auger), various hand tools and to perform general “handyman” skills.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions, to read and interpret signing plans and to complete related records.
- Ability to cooperate with colleagues as a team and to provide instructions and guidance as required to junior labourers.
- Ability to make on-site decisions, requiring good coordination and communication skills.
- Ability to be accurate in erecting and repairing signs.
- Ability to exercise care when using power tools and when working near traffic.
- Must have successful completion of the Traffic Control Course from accredited instructor (or equivalent), Flag Person Train-the-Trainer,, Professional Driving course, and First Aid
- Able to accurately and consistently fill out all necessary paperwork for any signage or traffic control operations.

**Remuneration**:
$33.61 to $35.38 per hour

**Hours of Work**:
80 hours biweekly; Monday to Friday, occasional overtime - with some evening and weekend when needed.
