Under limited direction, acts as individual contributor handling claims to determine nature of loss, coverage provided, and scope of claim and to make recommendations regarding settlement/disposition of claims. This role is ideal for a motivated and technically proficient claims professional who possesses the requisite initiative and pleasant demeanor to work in the Claims department while managing relationships with internal and external clients such as insureds, brokers, underwriters, operations, and third party administrator (“TPA”) partners.
Key
**Responsibilities**:
- Individual contributor handling a pending of E&O, Financial Lines, & GL claims
- Communicating coverage determinations to insureds and brokers
- Directing counsel and/or independent adjusters
- Driving claims towards resolution and negotiating settlements
- Providing oversight, supervision and guidance to TPA adjusters on behalf of AXIS
- Utilizing critical thinking and solid judgment to solve problems, make decisions and resolve issues inherent in handling losses, as well as planning and organizing activities throughout the claims management process
- Ensuring prompt payment of losses and vendor invoices
- Documenting damages or losses associated with claims and producing reports for senior management
- Investigating potentially fraudulent claims and taking appropriate action
- Support Underwriting by participating in client meetings and making presentations
- Other duties as assigned
Required Education/Training and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required or 5+years of prior claims handling experience in a multiline insurance environment
- Excellent reporting and writing skills
- Technical knowledge, skills, and training within the field to include:
- Confidence in coverage, claim evaluation, and reserving
- Solid negotiation, good settlement skills and claims handling judgment
- Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Word, PPT, Excel skills
- Availability for occasional travel
