Campus & Community Recreation has three facilities on the University of Alberta South Campus - Saville Community Sports Centre (East and West), Foote Field and the Saville Tennis Centre. Foote Field features competition-level artificial turf, track, and grass field, as well as a multi-use plaza, conference room, and lounge space. East facilities feature a curling rink (10 sheets), tennis courts (8 courts), fitness centre, bar and lounge, sport performance centre, and various multi-purpose spaces. West facilities feature nine gymnasiums, a competition gym, a gymnastics centre, a fitness studio, classrooms, and food, and beverage services. The sport and recreation facilities on south campus experience over 3.4 million visits per year.
**Position Summary**
The Recreation Facility Operator II (RFO II) is a part of a team responsible for the 18-hour-a-day, 7-day-a-week day-to-day operation of recreation and sport facilities located on south campus including Foote Field, Saville Tennis Centre, Saville Community Sports Centre East (SCSC-E), and Saville Community Sports West (SCSC-W). The team supports the technical operation of a variety of specialized facilities including the air-supported Dome structures, artificial turf, outdoor track facility, tennis centre, curling facility, gymnasium space, and fitness centre. The Recreation Facility Operations team ensures the daily operational requirements are professional, effective and efficient. This team is the heart and soul of the delivery of recreation facility operations. The team is tasked with delivering exemplary, client-focused service through its daily interaction with facility users and event operators.
The Recreation Facility Operator II is primarily responsible for the maintenance and operation of Foote Field artificial turf, natural turf, 400m track and air-supported dome structures. The RFO II will divide their time between Foote Field operations, general south campus facility operations such as facility opening and closing and preventative and ongoing maintenance in various components of south campus sport and recreation facilities. The fulfillment of these tasks is critical to the seamless operation of the facilities within Campus & Community Recreation for its users including Faculty, staff, students, alumni and the general public.
**Duties**
- Plan, prepare and execute air-supported Dome structure set up and take down;
- Plan, prepare and execute operation and maintenance related to artificial turf and track and field facilities;
- Set up and take down for Foote Field events, including Varsity events
- Serve as a lead in working with casual staff to ensure operations and maintenance are completed in a safe, timely and effective manner;
- Perform opening and closing procedures for Foote Field and Saville Community Sports Centre East as required;
- Operate facility equipment including forklifts, man lifts, bleachers, field groomer, forklift etc. in a safe and effective manner
