Zurich Canada is currently looking for an AVP, Risk Management to provide senior management with a 360-degree view of risk of the business or functional area in scope.

Reporting to Zurich Canada's Chief Risk Officer, you will help in implementing Zurich Group’s Risk Management Framework and running an efficient and effective risk management function., You will partner with senior functional and business line leaders, supporting them in identifying and mitigating risks while ensuring a consistent and efficient adherence to the Group’s risk management framework. You will promote a sound risk awareness culture by linking strategy, day-to-day business execution and reward system to risk, in order to support the decision-making process for Zurich Canada.

This is a hybrid role.

**What you will do -**
- Conducts risk assessments (operational, strategic and emerging) and investigations of operational events according to priorities assigned, and work with the business to identify meaningful risk mitigation actions.
- Flag significant matters of concerning risks for assigned areas to senior risk management.
- Provide support in all risk management activities for Zurich Canada and represent the risk function in case of absence.
- Provide support for Risk Governance and Risk Reporting processes (for example Assurance, Risk & Control Committee, Risk Reporting).
- Provide support for and conduct operational risk management activities (for example risk assessments or implementing other risk framework components).
- Partner with business/functional management.
- Compile risk reports based on available information, providing consistent and reliable information for risk-related decision taking.
- Support the risk management function in the promotion of the Zurich Group Risk Management Framework to ensure it is sufficiently understood and implemented in the organization.
- Provide support in regulatory reporting process (ORSA)

**Job Qualifications**

**What you bring to the table**:
**Required**:

- Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline and 7 or more years of experience in the Risk Management area.

OR
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 9 or more years of experience in the Risk Management area.

OR
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree in Risk Management and 7 or more years of experience in the Risk Management area.

AND
- 7 or more years in the insurance or financial services industry, including experience in different technical functions.
- Knowledge in risk management or risk engineering.

**Preferred**:

- Technical skills in insurance areas such as underwriting, pricing, claims, reinsurance or credit risk
- Ability to influence senior management.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced Degree and/or professional certification in insurance, actuarial or risk management.
