BASIC DUTIES:
Reporting to the Water Purification Plant Supervisor, the SCADA Technician provides technical support for the Water Purification Plant PLC Network and HMI Programming. The SCADA Technician will also maintain and calibrate all instrumentation & control devices associated at the Water Purification Plant and remote stations. Develop, plan and implement instrumentation upgrades by working with external consultants and contractors. Assist Water Purification Plant staff with routine and special projects as required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

- Must possess Grade 12 education or equivalent, plus graduation from a 2-year Community College Program, preferably in Automation, Instrumentation or Process Control, and possess equivalent trade certification (e.g. Instrumentation and Control Technician).
- Be able to program as per IEC 61131-3 conventions for Allen Bradley: Studio 5000, ControlLogix, CompactLogix Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC); experience with Aveva/Wonderware Human Machine Interface (HMI) programming and various Operator Interface Terminals.
- Must demonstrate technical and mechanical abilities.
- Be able to calibrate and maintain instrumentation & control devices (PID and control loops, chemical analyzers, valve actuators, chemical injection systems),
- Be able to troubleshoot and repair/replace PLC processors & I/O.
- Excellent computer and networking skills (Windows, SQL, Microsoft Office Suite, TCP/IP, Ethernet, Fibre Optics).
- Excellent communication (verbal and written), organizational and inter-personal skills.
- Be able to read and properly interpret Process & Instrumentation Drawings and Process Narratives.
- Be able to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
- Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted Class “G” Driver’s License.
- Must possess or ability to obtain a minimum Class 1 Water Treatment Operator Certification.
- Experience in water treatment will be considered an asset.
