**This position may be located in Montreal or Toronto.**
The Program Manager is responsible for the leadership and delivery of key IT related strategic initiatives within the various branches at Air Canada, e.g. Commercial, Customer Service, Operations, Corporate, IT etc... A program manager acts as a lead between multiple projects under the program to be sure they're aligned with overall business goals. With over 15 years of project management experience delivering complex technical solutions and through the use of best practices and strong methodology, the Program Manager will oversee large, strategic programs. The IT Program Manager will have demonstrated successful delivery of 3-5 large scale projects/programs (value of $5M+).
This role will report to the Director, IT PMO and Governance.
**Activities and key responsibilities, including**:
- Planning and tracking of Scope, Schedule, Budget, and Quality to ensure all projects under the program deliver overall business objectives.
- Provide end to end project governance through the defined Project Passport methodology.
- Monitor progress of all projects under the program and make necessary adjustments to ensure successful completion of projects and ultimately the program's goal.
- Pro-active management of Issues, Risks and Changes.
- Oversite of Change Management and Communication deliverables.
- Financial tracking and reporting including strategies to mitigate cost when required across all projects.
- Assembling and maintaining resources in addition to leveraging resources across the program (including 3rd parties) to ensure all key stakeholders are represented and contributing.
- Oversee and report demand management across projects to the management group.
- Communication of pertinent program information to Sponsors, Teams and User groups, as required.
- Evaluate complex situations accurately and identify viable solutions that create successful outcomes for customers and employees.
- Facilitate program meetings and brainstorming sessions for the Branch.
- Create effective program dashboards and communication/reporting process.
- Report project status and manage resource allocations in Planview.
- Ability to communicate at Executive level with focus on guiding difficult conversations.
- Support various Steering Committees, Business Units and the IT branch to ensure successful Program delivery.
- Work with external advisors and Business Units to leverage best practices on program management tools, techniques and training.
- Identify and manage Program interdependencies within AC IT and Business
- Promote benefits of PMO across organization.
- Leverage SharePoint and other defined PMO tools to manage a project database including a repository of lessons learned and best practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve project methodology and evolve the PMO standards and governance.
- Provide guidance, mentoring, and support to program team members.
**Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree or MBA or equivalent.
- 15 years or more of Program Management Experience.
- PMP Certification.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with various levels of the organization including C-suite.
- Proven success in implemented complex IT program with budgets over $5M.
- Requires in depth expertise and knowledge of Portfolio and/or Program Management principles and techniques to propose and implement different types of solutions within Business Units.
- Requires good knowledge of the Operations, Customer Service and Commercial branches.
- Requires good knowledge of Strategic resource planning within a Project Management environment.
- Requires good knowledge of Program level Financial planning and reporting.
