**Prep Cooks**

We are looking for highly skilled and experienced prep cooks to join our culinary team at Mamakas Taverna

Compensation: $18-$21 an hour based on experience + tips + health benefits package after 3 months of employment

**Summary of Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Executive Chef, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

- Prepare all recipes perfectly according to recipe specifications
- Assist in product ordering and inventory maintenance of prep related items, inspecting items as they arrive for quality, and communicating any and all shortages or issues to the Chef in a timely manner
- Consistently offer professional, friendly and proactive guest service while supporting fellow colleagues
- Help coordinate production as it relates to restaurant and banquet functions
- Assist the Executive Chef with developing new dishes
- Actively share ideas, opinions and suggestions in daily shift briefings
- Maintain proper rotation of product in all chillers to minimize wastage/spoilage
- Ensure storeroom requisitions are accurate
- Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of all work areas, utensils, and equipment
- Follow kitchen policies, procedures and service standards
- Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage
- Schedule: Mornings/Daytime, Weekends, Holidays (8am start)
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:

- Previous experience in the Culinary field required (2+ years in a high volume kitchen/food prep is role required)
- Must have strong culinary knowledge
- Must be available to work full time/5 shifts a week
- Must be able to work with little supervision
- Must have a strong ability to follow and execute recipes perfectly
- Strong math skills/ability to scale recipes accurately
- Knowledge and experience with various kitchen equipment is required
- Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
- Highly responsible & reliable
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
- Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
- Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times

**Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to)**:

- Constant standing and walking throughout shift
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs
- Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling
- Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
