The Department of Medicine at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre (ARHCC) is recruiting one general internist skilled in the management of complex inpatients.

Abbotsford Regional Hospital is a teaching hospital and a regional referral centre that serves the population of Fraser East.

Do you want to be part of a dynamic team?

You will join an existing group of Internists in the development and running of an inpatient Internal Medicine unit for medically complex patients. The internists will have MRP responsibilities for these patients. On-call intensivists cover the hospital's ICU and step-down unit and cardiologists cover telemetry-based CCU unit in the hospital. The hospital also has a nephrology service with an in-hospital dialysis unit and a medical oncology group with BC Cancer Agency adjacent to the medical ward. Separate hospitalist service will look after majority of other admitted medical inpatients, with excellent relationship between internists and hospitalists.

Given the patient care complexity, it is advised that the on-call physician remains close to the hospital after hours. A new physician is expected to share a 1 in 7-8 call eventually. Internal Medicine group has runs Rapid Access Clinic, Graduated Care Clinic and Diabetes Clinic at the hospital, and also helps with providing inpatient services and clinic services at Mission Memorial Hospital.

Abbotsford Regional Hospital & Cancer Centre is a 272 bed, University of British Columbia affiliated hospital offering medical, surgical, obstetrics, inpatient pediatrics, renal, cardiology, tertiary palliative care, helipad, as well as 24/7 emergency services with 79,289 visits annually.
