**About the Position**:
The Secondary Operator (SO) uses secondary processing steps by-way of production materials in the manufacturing of technically advanced, specialty materials and complex components in the cold-forming industry. Safety shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, and a high-visibility vest are mandatory PPE in the plant.

**Main Responsibilities & Duties**:

- Tap, Distort, Threadroll and Extrude various product per print and gauge.
- Check parts to ensure conformance and maintain documentation as required to support quality assurance, statistical process control (SPC), etc.
- Load and unload bins on machines.
- Weigh product at completion of run and record on paperwork.
- Perform changeovers as required.
- Troubleshoot machine as required.
- Clean out machine and top up fluid levels as required.
- Keep feed system full, gauge nuts before emptying/releasing catch pans.
- Report all non-conforming products to Supervisor
- Report any machine malfunction to Supervisor.

**General Qualifications & Requirement**:

- Ability to set up, operate and perform basic troubleshooting on Tap, Distortion, Threadrolling and Extrusion machines.
- Use gauges and measuring equipment (including thread, dial, plug, TIR, and Johnson gauges, vaniers, micrometers, microscope, etc.) to ensure product meets specification.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance to ensure machine, fluids, etc. are functioning properly (e.g. lubricant levels, refractometer testing, etc.).
- Familiarity with safety devices on Secondary equipment and safety procedures.
- Reasonable oral and written communication skills to follow instruction, complete/input documentation and pass information to Superintendent or Lead Hand.
- Ability to operate forklift.
- Attention to detail; ability to recognize defective product.

**Relevant Qualification, Criteria and Educational Requirement**:

- Certified forklift operator a MUST.
- 2 years’ experience operating, setting up and basic troubleshooting of production manufacturing equipment
- GD & T - ability to read technical prints.
- Basic computer skills to input/retrieve data, interpret production and equipment diagnostics.
